Battery drain rapidly after 40% is reached on venu 2

For a months I am experiencing an issue with the battery so it drains instantly from about 40% to 0 and watch shuts down due to critical battery level. I have tried to reset my watch but it happened again.

It looks like battery percentage drops slowly from 100% to let's say 40% but then it speeds up and from 30 to 0 drops within less then 5 minutes.

Batery lifetime have been also reduced.

I have seen that I am not unique on these forums. Has anyone solved this yet?

Thanks.

  • A recent software update introduced a change to extend the overall battery life span in your watch.  An increase in time for your watch to fully charge is expected as a result of this change.

Please ensure your device software is up to date. If you continue to experience this disruption, you'll want to reach out to your local Garmin Support team to investigate.

  • When was it ? Because I've this bug for month...

  • I have this problem for almost half a year. Maybe more.

  • Sorry, I was asking for the recent update because I haven't seen any difference. :-/

  • Thought I would comment but I don't bring good news.

I have had the same issue as you for months now. I've been quite vocal about it here on the Garmin Forum. The symptoms are pretty much exactly what you have experienced.

A few weeks back, I got the update for 17.06, which I guess is the APAC version of 17.04 and it helped, but not by a lot. These days by the time I hit 20%, the decline from 20% to 0 is super fast. So I have gone back to my old habit of charging it once I hit 40%.

To further improve the battery life, I have made sure I don't have any apps or watch faces installed other than what came with the watch. I have also disabled the o2 sensor to get a bit of extra life out of it.

I can only assume that the battery is really poked. Seems pretty unusual for a battery to go pear after a year and a bit these days, but I guess it is what it is. I'm starting to wonder if it's just one of those things, and perhaps no amount of firmware updates can help it.

My plan was to send my watch back to my local Garmin reps and pay for the battery to be replaced. Still haven't go that far though.
