New rapid random battery drain

I've had my Venu 2 for 18 months and not had any issues with battery life/drain. Usually get 7-10 days between charges. But recently it's started to sporadically suffer from really extreme battery drain for a couple of hours, before going back to normal again. It seems to have started about a month or so ago, since a recent software update (currently running v17.04). I'm not doing anything with it usage wise (no activities being recorded, no GPS running etc, although it's too rapid even for that). I've got Battery Graph app on my watch, and it shows very clearly that something abnormal is going on with battery drain.

Battery depleted about 55% down to 20% in about 2hrs, and then it levelled off and back to normal discharge rate.

I have the same situation also.

For me it happens before a sw update, between sw download and actual update (this may take several days).

You can see the evidence of past sw download in Connect app > More > Settings > Device Sync Audit > DOWNLOAD section of the log.

It is totally unpredictable and there is no control when this will happen.

For me this make the watch unreliable and cannot be used as a dependable device because there is no way to predict the battery lifetime.

(When I need to relay on a watch, I take my trusty PAW-2000 that did not need battery charging, sw update or constant tweaking and just working flawlessly since 2012... )

It's none of the things on that list. I've not changed anything on my watch or using it in any way differently to how I was before this problem started. The only thing that changed was a software update from Garmin. I'm in the beta program, maybe leaving that would help? But if there's an issue with Garmin's beta software I would think they'd like to know about it?

I'm not in a beta program and since 2 weeks I have the exact same problem. 1 hour ago still 30% battery and now all of sudden the message that there is only 5% left. Very strange but most off all, very annoying

There is currently no beta software available for this device. If the steps in the troubleshooting guide does not improve the battery life. You'll want to contact Garmin Support directly.
