Battery drain Venu 2s

I've owned a Garmin Venu 2s for 1 year and 7 months, and I've been experiencing some unusual battery issues recently. Over the last 3 months, my watch has been shutting down unexpectedly, even when the battery level is above 40%, after only 2-3 days of typical usage, which includes notifications and walking activities. However, in the past week, it's reached a point where my watch won't turn on unless it's connected to a charger. I've already updated the device to the latest software version, and I don't have any custom apps installed. I've also turned off the pulse oximeter feature. I've reached out to Garmin support, but I haven't received a response yet. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem or have any suggestions for resolving this issue?

  • Hi, I got the same issue twice. Last march, my venus 2s went from needing a charge once a week to everyday. I did everything from support and ultimately requested a replacement device in april 2023.

Now my replacement watch has just recently fallen down the same path again... both watches lasted me around 5 months.

Ive also noticed that after my weight trainings are completed on my watch, the screen displays all sorts of weird symbols instead of a timer and "End of workout" message.

Cant tell if then need better qa for software updates or they just ship them with terrible batteries.

Not impressed at all for a 500$ watch tbh

  • Until an update or two ago, my watch was fine. Now once I hit 40%, it goes straight down to zero. Every week I get one less day out of my watch, and at the rate I'm going, I won't be able to get a full day out of my watch.

The garmin reps have mentioned an update coming soon, but suggested switching to the beta version if we can't wait for it. APAC users have to wait a month to get the update after it's "100%" released, and we are unable to switch to the beta (the option doesn't show on the web interface for Connect).

It would be nice if the garmin reps could assist, because right now I have an expensive device that can't even be used as a watch at the moment. And as usual when it comes to APAC users, nothing but silence. This is bitterly frustrating.

  • Similar issues here, but it's been for multiple updates ongoing. If I dare to do a run for half an hour on a charge of even 45% my watch is dead at the end of it. Did a reset today again as those sometimes seem to help, but watch just died at 25% without even going in battery savings mode. My watch also doesn't charge fully and just gets stuck at either in 70% or 80%s. Sometimes replugging the charging cable gets it to recharge more. I'm very close to just ask for warranty as I have the watch for like 9 months.  Never had this many issue with my previous vivoactive one.

Also takes hours to recharge the watch

  • I've been facing the same problem since June. Plus, now the watch turns off by itself when the battery reaches 63%. I now regret that I've invested around U$500 on this watch that hasn't worked properly for months. It's been pretty useless since I updated it to version 14, and now to v15.20.

The folks from Garmin simply ignored my post about it and have never reached out to me. They don't care about us. Probably they will release a new version of this watch and expect us to invest our money on it. Not gonna happen. I'll never, EVER, purchase another Garmin watch! What a horrible experience!

  • Hello All,

Please try the tips in this FAQ: Tips to Extend the Battery Life on a Garmin Fitness Watch

If you continue experience rapid battery drain, please reach out to your local Garmin Support team for further assistance.

  • I've done all the steps multiple times and the problem persists. I cannot reach out to the local Support team because they only provide support to Venu 3, 3S and SQ2. (Please look at the screenshot I added here.)

Plus, if I go there look for assistance, I'll need to pay for it, which doesn't make sense since the problem was generated after an official firmware update. It's not fair at all to the customer.

  • All watches are supported, try typing in the serial number of your watch instead.

Let me know if you are still having trouble, I will provide the contact information for your specific country.

  • I was about to create a post. Twice this month, my watch's battery drained heavily in mere hours. Today, I took it out of its charge at about 4pm and the charge was at 74%. At 8:30pm, it was down to 4% and only noticed it because I got the notice to turn on energy saver. Nothing should make the watch drain 70% in a mere 4 hours! AOD is off and gesture is also turned off. I didn't look at the watch the whole time so the display was always off. Even an Apple watch doesn't drain that fast lol. What's going on here?

  • Hello Garmin inder,

could you please advise if this matter will be resolved in the next week or so, i am in the EU, and my 2 year guarantee expires soon.

I am not interested in deleting stuff that has been installed for a long time, nor being bounced around by your help departments. Just a simple commitment to resolving this firmware problem, so that I don't miss the return expiry date.

this is not the first time I have had to do this. I am not acting in bad faith, trying to get a watch for 2 years, rather i was happy with my purchase, but Garmin has damaged it via firmware and needs to correct it asap.

i recommend to anyone else to do this also because it does seem that we (owners of older models) are not taken seriously.

  • Following the advice in this thread, I have created a support request and sent my watches to the Garmin service centre. Today I get a new one, Hope this one will not have this problem. Everyone who has the same problem, you just need to write to support, I think Garmin know the root cause and they will send a new watch to you.
