Garmin Venu 2 sensors not working (heart rate shows as "--", Indicating it is not detecting arm) after the update to 15.20

Good day everyone.

This is a continuation of the previous thread on the same issue.

As a summary, I bought a Venu 2 about a year ago. A couple of months ago, my heart rate sensor and blood Ox sensors stopped. I have gone through all the troubleshooting, including a full reset, making sure the app/watch was up-to-date, ensuring my settings were enabled. No light comes on at all, neither green nor red. If I try to do a health snapshot, it just says that arm is not detected.

Sometimes when I reset the watch is comes back on. For context, the steps, the floors, the notifications, the calorie counter -- those are all still working. It's only the heart rate, stress, blood Ox and sleep that aren't tracking.

As instructed by the Garmin support team, I updated to version 15.20. This has not solved the issue.

My question -- has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, how did you resolve it? Are there any known issues with Garmin and Android? Since 3pm (GMT +4) on 2 September 2023, my heart rate sensor stopped working completely. No amount of hard reset is helping. I also tried to do a factory reset which actually caused my watch to get stuck on the blue triangle when booting, resulting in me having to a complete manual reset. My steps have also been constantly reset by the watch.

Has anyone had any success with version 15.20 or is there any advice?

PS. I have contacted Garmin support directly on this but have not received any feedback.

  • I've responded to your email regarding this.

  • I have the same problems with a Venu 2 plus..

  • I have not had this issue but since updating to 15.20 my watch metrics are wildly inaccurate. HR is way off other monitors, pulse ox never out of the 80’s where a finger monitor is showing 98% and stress levels about 20 pts higher than average probably related to the HR sensor since the stress metric is HRV related. I had a chat with the support team today who basically said the metrics are for informational value only and shouldn’t be depended on for accuracy. I am disappointed in Garmin on this one because of you can’t rely on the watch for metrics around recovery it is kind of useless.

  • I have the same issue. Factory reset helped for a few minutes and then the heart rate sensor stopped working again
