Hello,
After a long Googling/Garmin forum session I've cracked exactly why my golf yardages tend to be 5-20yards out constantly. I want to spell this out to save someone else the pain.
Note I'm UK based so want yardages for golf but metric for everything else.
The issue: I noticed when using the Venu 2's Golf App, when with my friend, all his readings were ~15yards higher and his matched any on-course markers, so concluded the issue was with my watch. Interestingly, all my club data and other statistics seemed decent and reliable.
Attempted solutions: All product/online forums suggested that it's very likely I've got the units wrong (made sense) but I triple checked this using my phone's Garmin Golf App that I had set the units to "yardage". I was convinced I've got a faulty watch but also tried:
- had turned the Venu 2 off
- reset it
- Gave it a good 30seconds of 'GPS Found' time before pressing go
- DIDN'T connect to the laptop to use Garmin Express (yet)
How I realised: basically no matter after changing the distance units, the 'Driver Distance' always seemed to stay in meters (250m) which was strange. After reading one more forum, it described that most non-Approach/Golf-dedicated watches simply don't have the capability so only have a general distance setting so need to change the entire watch's units (going to Settings, System, Units, Distance = Miles).
Check this page to see if you'll be similar, includes Fenix Forerunner Venu Venu 2 Venu 2 Plus Vivo Descent Quatix Tactix

The fix (TLDR): Check the 'Driver Distance' to see what units your watch is ACTUALLY using (so 250m be 232yrds). If it's not the right one, change the entire watch's units (Settings, System, Units, Distance = Miles).
I don't think I'm that stupid of a person, however upon reflection I guess setting the units to statute/imperial/yards on the Garmin Golf phone app, only does that for the Phone and not my watch.
