New Venu 2 Connect Sync Problem

I've recently replaced my Vivoactive 3 after 4 years with a Venu 2.

I'm having an issue where my watch won't sync with connect; when I press the little refresh button in connect it spins briefly then just stops or keeps spinning. Restarting my watch and phone fixes the problem temporarily, but I don't want to do this 3 times a day. I never had this issue with my Vivoactive 3.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
