Phone doesn't ring on incoming calls

Hi, on my Venu 2, I receive notifications for incoming calls with a pop up notice and vibration.  The phone, a Pixel 7 on Android 13, does nothing.  I have to open the phone app to see the call and to answer the call.

This seems to have coincided with getting a new-to-me Chevrolet with a Bluetooth infotainment package.

I don't see any specific notification settings in the Pixel's Bluetooth settings for the Venu.  I poked around in Connect on the Pixel, but can't find anything there that mutes the phone's ringer on incoming calls.

Any suggestions?

  • It's possible that the issue you're experiencing with call notifications on your Garmin Venu 2 and Pixel 7 is related to the Bluetooth connection between the two devices. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    • Restart both your Garmin Venu 2 and your Pixel 7.
    • Make sure your Garmin Venu 2 is connected to your phone via Bluetooth. On your phone, go to Settings > Connected devices > Previously connected devices and check if your Garmin device is listed.
    • Check if call notifications are enabled on your Garmin Venu 2. On your Garmin device, go to Settings > Phone > Smart Notifications and make sure the toggle for "Incoming Call" is turned on.
    • Check if call notifications are enabled on your Pixel 7. On your phone, go to Settings > Notifications > Incoming Calls and make sure the toggle for "Show notifications" is turned on.
    • Make sure the Do Not Disturb mode is not turned on on your phone. On your phone, swipe down from the top of the screen to access the Quick Settings panel and check if the Do Not Disturb icon is highlighted. If it is, tap on it to turn it off.
    • Try resetting the Bluetooth connection between your Garmin Venu 2 and your Pixel 7. On your phone, go to Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth > Garmin Venu 2 and tap on the gear icon next to it. Tap on "Forget" and then pair your Garmin device again.
    • If none of the above steps work, try disconnecting your phone from your car's Bluetooth infotainment package to see if that resolves the issue.
  • Hi, thanks for the reply.  I had already tried my go-to process (swear at both devices, restart, swear some more), but the second restart of both devices in step #1 above cured this issue.

  • Great, it's important that you solved the problem.
