11.14 wifi firmware 655.35 ?

Upgrade 11.14 was installed on my Venu 2 today and I immediately noticed a strange version of wifi firmware, on the watch it shows that wifi is on version 655.35.
After connecting to Garmin Express, every time the watch tries to install a small update, over and over again.

This bug was fixed in 11.13, and now it's back :/

  • I restarted the watch and the wifi version from 4.01 changed again to 655.35. And it's in the upgrade loop again….

  • just sharing, in the many loop updates i got after the 11.14 update, my venu2 is now showing wifi 4.01 and no more endless loops for a pending update

  • And are you able to connect to the wifi network on 4.01?

In my case I could not connect to the wifi network on 4.01 (some error 0600, I do not remember exactly). After removing and re-adding my wifi network on the watch, the firmware version went back to 655.35 and the wifi network works again.

  • haven't made any changes and yes it does sync OK over wifi.

  • interestingly early today connected the venu2 to my PC to charge (though PC was not switched on, so no PC sync) and once disconnected venu2 said hey here's an update and once done, wifi version is on 655.35....checked for updates on the venu2 via wifi and hey, here's an update....done and message saying wifi has been updated! Second software update search via venu2 show no more updates, wifi sync still works, version is 655.35 there....

Reconnected to PC (this time switched on) and made sync via GE and no updates pending there, once disconnect from PC, venu2 says, hey there's an update....and the all process repeats!
Made again an update software search via venu2 and again an update was there for the wifi, once done and restarted, wifi sync still works and now show again 4.01.....

Issue came back with the endless update, why don't know but it's pretty frustrating just to observe how such issues keep being introduced via fw updates as i never had such thing and/or any beta installed!

  • I wonder how widespread this problem is? Is it just our watches that are starting to break down?

  • Mine is stuck on 655.35. Was also stuck in an update loop. Tried installing just yet and suddenly watch says new WiFi software installed 4.01. Looking for updates no updates found. Looking at software versions still on 655.35.... rebooted device no new software. In a previous attempt to fix this enrolled in beta program. Also tried the update loop fix noted on the first page. Maybe a new WiFi software update will fix this?

  • Same issue here. This morning I started the synchronisation via WLAN with Garmin Express. Then I saw
the version 655.35, but WLAN is still working.

  • I called customer support and just got this fixed. The problem is that for the software to fully install your watch needs to restart but every single component needs to turn off during that restart and that can take up to 3 minutes. Solution is next time your watch asks to install the update press "Install Later". Then turn off your watch and wait a full 3 minutes. Then turn on and update and you should be good to go. Worked like a charm for me.

  • i did not followed that approach of waiting 3 min with the venu2 switched off (how can a regular user know that! If this is required at most should be part of the fw process or at most published) and after my endless loop, i connected the venu2 today in the PC and GE had no updates, disconnected and no update, checked via wifi in the watch and no update.
Seem fixed (i hope) and my best educated guess is that silently something may have been fixed in the backend by Garmin
