Touchscreen lag - recover accidentally discarded activity

At the end long 10 hour hike, I stopped and saved the activity. I then pressed the up arrow button at the bottom of the screen to look at details of the activity. The touchscreen was laggy with the large amount of data and did not update. I pressed the up arrow buttons a few times because I wasn't sure that the touch was registered.

The delete button the next screen is also at the bottom of the watch and the confirm delete 'yes' button is also at the bottom. So the  watch ended up discarding the activity because of a laggy touchscreen and a bad UI.

Some previous posts on this forum recommend using a deleted file recovery software. As far as I can make out, the Venu 2 only supports MTP and not mass storage mode making this impossible. I was also out on the trail for a few more days recording other activities making it likely that the file was overwritten. Nor did I sync the activity with garmin connect before this happened.

I was relying on my watch to record the GPS tracks and I am extremely unhappy with what has happened. Is there any way to recover the activity from the innards of the device? If not, please treat this as a serious bug. The UI needs to be improved and and there should be an ability to undo deleted activities.
