Loving the Venu 2 but one thing is driving me mad. I cannot, even on auto or manual settings, see the screen in the sun. I see this was a problem a bit back but for some it went away. Not for me. What do i need to do?

This reminds me of an issue that I had on my V2 - running firmware 8.11 at that time - after some time (days) since the last watch reboot the auto brightness functionality stopped working so it was not possible to read the screen in the direct sun. Firmware 9.17 fixed this issue for me.
He tried manual settings (I suppose on the highest brightness):

Mine is ok on "watch" setting in the sun, its the running screen which it looks like it's blank when suns on it. Tried auto and manual. One last effort of putting on manual but on wrist turn to view on not on permanent. Been dull last couple of days so no chance to try. Thanks all for suggestions

It's the new, important information, missing in your initial post :)
I don't use this watch for sport tracking - I used it once with the "Hike" activity with AOD on - it was a sunny day and the display was perfectly readable.
I can try to run the "Run" activity, but next days seems to be cloudy in my area according to the forecast.
There is no point of trying it, the display works the same all the time, perfectly readable even in the strongest sunshine, no matter if during activity or not.
If the OP tried to factory default the watch and is running the latest fmw, he should simply RMA.
