Garmin Coach 10km - Lap Button press?

Hi, I have the Venu2s, first time Garmin watch owner. Could someone please explain how the "Keep going if feeling good, or Lap button press to finish" works on the Garmin Coach 10km plan works? I'm not sure what it means, how to keep running and then go back to the cool down if I decide to do more, and how the Lap thing works. Thanks in advance.
