Walking vs. Walk indoor

Hi..

I have a Venu 2 and so far everything works fine; but

i use 'walking' activity when i walk outside, it shows that i walk around 4 km/hr. However when i use a treadmill indoors i use the activity 'walk indoor' and for somereason it says i did 2.3 km in 1.5 hrs!

I walked for an extra half hour but it shows less than half the distance!

1.Why is that?

2. Whats the difference between 'walk indoor' & 'treadmil'

Thank you!

  • The difference is that outdoor walks use GPS, while indoor walks don't.

  • Thank you for your response but im walking the same pace why does it show that i walked a lot less when im on a treadmil vs when i walk outside!

  • Treadmill activities or anything indoor that involves distance is based on the movement of your wrist and the average length of you steps.

If you move your wrist in different ways it affects the pace or the distance...if you stop to move your wrist, the watch will think that you're not moving.
On the treadmill run you can "calibrate" the activity at the end and input the real distance...not sure if it's the same for the walk indoor.
In any case activities like that are good just to keep a record of the heart rate but not for other stuff.

  • Have you calculated your stride length yet? This is an important step to make it more accurate.  Go to Connect, device, activity tracking, custom stride length. It will calculate it for you, you just need to measure out a length and count the steps.
