Activity Minutes

Hi Guys, I got same Issue like in the Garmin VivoActive line ..who can explain this to me please. I even have Intensity Minutes when I walk around the flat. :-) weekly I come up to 4000-5000 Minutes. Although I actually only need 150. What could be the reason for this? I have a resting pulse of about 70 at night and between 100-120 almost contingously during the day ..at work or at home (I don't run) --- >  But, I must admit ,I am still relatively untrained !!! greetings Ulli

  • You will want to open the Connect App, tap on the device, then Activity Tracking, scroll down to Weekly Intensity Minutes and tap. Turn on Heart Rate Zones and you can change your Moderate and Vigorous Intensity to a higher zone.  At 120 HR during the day that probably falls under zone 2 and so counts those minutes as intensity while you’re walking around.  Tip: you need to change “vigorous intensity” first, before you can change “moderate”.

To see your HR Zones it is using under “Heart Rate Zones”, go to device, User Settings, HR Zones.  By default, unless you changed them, those will be 50-100% of your Max Heart Rate (which is calculated by 220-age * 50-100%, so make sure your age is correct in the app).

  • 4000/5000 looks a really huge amount but also 100-120 HR during the whole day doesn't look "normal".

I'm not an expert and i don't know anything about your situation but generally "normal" heart rate should be between 60-100 and that's why over 100/110 you start to get some intensity minutes.

It could be also that the watch is defective and it's showing HR too high.

Check the HR zones as CindiL suggested but i would keep the default ones if your data are correct(age, height, weight, etc).

  • yes, thank you CindiL. I guess, since I am relatively untrained person as a beginner in active sports ( soon retired with an age of 67), I read my pulse is somewhat higher than a trained person anyway. I asume GARMINs default heart zones refer to an moderate trained person.  May that be the reason ?    geeetings Ulli

  • thank you Mladen T, yes my personal data is correct. By reading more about physical conditions, I guess you're right to keep the default ones. I need to train my body until the heart rate goes down to the standard GARMIN level.   thank you Ulli
