Spo2 monitoring - what is the point?

Hello,

I am very happy with the Venu 2, it’s a great watch.  For the past 2 nights I have enabled spo2 monitoring. All is good and it turns out I’m where I should be.

The question I have is, what is the point of the data?  I am a healthy and active 45 year old so should I be concerned with tracking this metric?  I figure there isn’t much point at the moment.

What I do wonder though, is, does monitoring it make other items like body battery, stress etc, more accurate?

  • Spo2 measuring got a lot of hype during the early days of COVID-19 because people was afraid to have low numbers while being sick. A couple of years later most people realized that your Spo2 measurements almost always measure 95+% - and a dip below 95% was because of faulty readings by the wearable.

Spo2 measurement can in some cases track sleep apnea - but again - measuring Spo2 on your wrist is highly unreliable.

Mountainclimbers use spo2 acclimatization in high altitudes - but that is not useful for most people :)

  • Ok. That’s what I thought.  For me it’s a waste of battery. Many thanks for taking the time to answer.
