When in HIIT-Free mode, can I disable Rest and just start a new set with the "B" button?

I do circuit training classes and occasionally want to time a sprint or some other short activity.  I typically hit the "B" button to start a new set, but I have to wait through the "rest" mode first which is annoying because it takes a few seconds.  Is there a way to just start a new set without resting?  I think "adding a split" is probably a better description of what I want to happen.
