Venu 2 randomly froze and won't turn on after restart

My Venu 2, which I've had for less than two weeks, randomly froze today (weird triangle symbol with random lines around it frozen in the middle of the screen). I hard power cycled it off, then turned it back on again, and I got a blue triangle that showed up for a moment before disappearing. I tried the steps in this help article and this help article, but neither had any effect. When I tried plugging it into my computer (and I tried multiple different USB ports), the blue triangle would flash up again before disappearing. If I pressed and held the power button while it was connected to the computer for about 15-20 seconds, I would instead get the two partial triangles shown below... and then nothing else.

The two triangles do appear to be very, VERY slowly moving together, as if it's starting up (as in, they've almost merged into one triangle 20 minutes after I took that picture), but it doesn't seem to actually properly booting. I would love some assistance

I live in the United States. Feel free to email me or view/access my Garmin Connect profile as you see fit.

Thanks!

Edit: A master reset worked for me... and several watch faces are gone from the IQ store, so maybe it was some sort of new update that was causing issues if you had a newly incompatible face active? Not sure. Follow the steps in this video if you're not familiar with how to do a master reset.

  • Hello, same problem here. I tried to restart it and same two triangles are on my watch

Edit: I have done a master reset and it is working fine again

  • Hi, same here today!

before that the application "Hydration Traking" made an update, maybe it's the cause?
  • Same here???

    And NOW just black screen.

  • All,

Thank you for your participation in this forum thread.  So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    3. In what country do you live?
    4. Does a hard reset resolve your issue, only for it to return again?
      • To perform a hard reset, first make sure the watch is not connected to the charging cable.  Next, press and hold the power button on your watch.  Ignore the "Power Off" question and the assistance alert (if applicable) on your watch, just continue holding the power button pressed down until the screen goes blank.  Once this occurs, you may release the button.  Allow the watch to sit powered off for a few seconds, then you may power it back on by pressing and releasing the power button.

    5. On what date did this issue begin?
  • Hi Garmin-Kevin,

I have encountered this same issue today Venu 2 froze and won't now reboot after many hard reset attempts have been trying all day. Just keep getting random triangles that change slightly over time very slowly on the screen etc...Also tried connecting to express and connect account but this won't recongnise watch or sync with it.

To answer your requsts - I give you permisson to email me and access my garmin account, I live in the UK, Hard resets do not work. Issue started this morning at about 7am - 03.02.2022.

As someone suggested the issue seems to have occured as a hydration widget update was being loaded.

I'm going round in circles here please help as ment to be going for a run tonight rather than typing messages to you lol!!

Thanks in advance....I look forward to hearing back from you with a solution......

  • Hello , although the hard reset seems to have worked for now (hard power cycling the watch off, then holding the bottom button and top button until the triangle appears and releasing the top button to get the reset screen, followed by re-configuring the watch as if it was new), I am happy to follow up as need. Yes, you have permission to email me. Yes, you have permission to view/access my Garmin Connect account. I live in the United States. A hard reset as I described above, not as you described in your post, has fixed it for now. It began happening in the early hours of February 3, 2022 (Eastern Standard Time).

  • Hi, my problem was solved by itself.
I didn't do any reset, but it took more than 40 Minutes to turn on.

  • Kevin,

I am also having the same issue today.

    1)Yes

    2)Yes

    3)USA

4)Hard reset doesn't resolve anything. Following the blue triangle, the watch doesn't respond and reverts to a black screen or does the multiple triangles/lines image as shown earlier in this thread.

5)This began yesterday, Wed 2 Feb

  • I had to do a fuld Hard reset

    1. Turn the watch off, by holding the top button until it turns off.

    2. Hold the to buttons until the triangle appears and it vibrates.

    3. Then release the top button and hold the other buttons undtil the second vibration.

    4. Release the button.

The Hard reset icon will show and it should start resetting.

  • Did the hard reset, now I can't get off the watch to garmin connect screen.
