Oura vs Venu 2 with 8.05

I'm finding the 8.05 really nice and i noticed a nice improvement in battery(maybe a setting was changed but nothing that i'm noticing by eyes).

With nearly 2 hours of GPS, AOD i'm at 47% remaining battery after 43 hours. I don't look too much at my watch(i prefer to look at the data on the phone or on the computer). Before, with similar usage, i would reach 50/55% after 24 hours.

That was a side note but what i really want to check are the new improvements regarding sleep.

First day, i didn't have my Oura but i noticed a little bit more awake time on the Garmin.

The second day(Night 1 below) looks impressive between Garmin and Oura. Oura is not perfect as it has some issues with REM detection from what i saw in the past weeks(and from reviews).

Night 1

Night 2

A lot of difference this time Sweat smile while i don't want to find a reason for differences between REM/DEEP/LIGHT stages i would say that Oura recorded a big chunk of "awake" when i was, probably, sleeping...that big chunk of nearly 30 minutes near the end it's impossible as i don't remember being awake.

The awake part around 2am is matching on both and, while i can't remember it either, it's just 3-5 minutes and more possible than the 30 minutes at the end from Oura.

Let's see how it will be tomorrow.

Night 3

A lot of differences also today and nothing that i can really argue on both sides because i remember only a small awake moment at the end of the sleep and it could be around 5.15(the bigger chunk from Oura and the small one from Garmin).

In general, Garmin looks like it's adding few lines more of awake but still far from that hour on Oura or, i guess because i used it in past but not anymore, on a Fitbit.

Accuracy on starting/ending the sleep night is definitely good on all 3 days until now...Oura is just giving more awake time on both ends while Garmin starts/finishes without it.

Night 4

I definitely remember being awake while staying in the bed(checking the time once or twice). I don't remember the timing but Garmin showing more awake recordings makes sense.
I have some doubts about the nice amount of Deep sleep from Oura especially considering that i remember being awake a few times and that should be an indication that my sleep was not as usual. Again, nothing to say about starting/ending timing as they are matching pretty well.

Night 5

Nothing to comment on here as it's difficult to say which one is correct about Deep and REM sleep.

Again, i remember being awake a few times and again, the accuracy of starting/ending of the sleep looks really impressive.

Night 6

Nothing to say. Usual differences in stages.

Night 7(for Oura i have only the screenshot from the phone...not sure why they don't show it on the web as usual...it's only for this night)

Another great night...for Garmin in my opinion.

I guess this is the night that you get after 5 hours hiking within -20/-10 and some knee pain Smiley

Some more infos because there's a bit of difference also within the beginning of the sleep this time:

-lights off at 10.00 but i went out of the bad immediately to put some hand cream...back to the bad i remember being awake for a bit and i was even thinking "oh my sleep latency will increase on Oura tonight" so it's not possible that i fell asleep at 10.02.

-i remember feeling the pain in the knee more than once while moving in the bad(more awake time than usual as per Garmin? or just my imagination/dreaming?)

-5.20 i woke up and checked the watch to see the hour and that's the big chunk of awake recorded by Garmin(Oura too recorded an awake state around that time but shorter)

-and here comes another + for Garmin, in my opinion...since i started this comparison this is the first time that i woke up due to the alarm(usually i wake up 5/15 minutes before it). Can you guess what's the time set in the alarm? Yes, it's 6.30...

After the facts, my opinions:

- i know that after a tough day it's possible to just jump in the bed and sleep your best night but this was not the case(mostly due to the knee pain, imo).

-can't really explain why, in my opinion, Oura messed with the beginning/ending time...while the beginning is more difficult to determine, for the ending there's no way that Oura was right(not a big deal because it's only 5/6 minutes but still strange)

-as i mentioned more than once i don't want to say that Garmin is really good and Oura is bad...at the end, i have both of them and i'm wearing both of them but i'm more and more disappointed with Oura and i hope they get something better when they release the new algorithm during 2022. For Garmin, it's the opposite because when i bought it i knew that the sleep recording was not one of the strengths but i'm happily surprised.
