Notes:

  • If you see any issues send an email to [email protected] Please indicate the following: Your Venu variant (Venu 2 or Venu 2S) Software version GCM version Android or iOS
  • Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

Changes made from version 5.38 to 8.05:

  • Removed WEP Wi-Fi network support
  • Added press and hold on watch face complications to open detailed view
  • Added Connect IQ System 5 support
  • Improved display backlight performance
  • Sleep, watch face, and workout improvements
  • Stability and UI improvements
  • I have no such problem. I specifically checked in bright sunlight and the legibility is awesome. Wish I could say the same for my phone or my iPad.

  • Well bummer (for me that is). Maybe my beta install had an issue. I hope so. I will try it again.

  • I recently installed this, Battery life is much better, based on my usage on 5.38 I would get 8 days, first full charge and use after the update I got 11 days battery life, I just charged it again to see if it was a fluke or not. All other things seems to be working just as well.

One thing I would like to see in both the app and the watch (unless its there and I missed it) is a warning @10-15% battery life so you know to charge it, as of now it doesn't seem to warn you and I have to keep checking after 4 days to see what I got left.

  • For me, I feel as though the sleep metrics have gotten worse since the update. I’ve been sleeping like a baby with high scores from my Oura Ring but the Venu 2 has been reporting extremely low REM and DEEP sleep metrics since the update. For example, my ring reported around 4 hours of REM sleep last night whereas the Venu 2 reported 47 minutes of REM and only 18 minutes of deep sleep. Garmin continues to have extreme challenges with sleep accuracy.  I will be reverting back to the official release as I feel it was much more accurate than what I’m seeing now.

  • Switch to a watch face that shows the battery level. Not a bad suggestion to have a notification pop up though.

  • I find it better, more detailed. Four hours of REM seems like a lot - I've 1-2 hours, and that includes, my fitbit which is seen as the most accurate (according to Quantified Scientist on Youtube (he has comparisons between all these devices))

  • To clarify, Fitbit is more accurate *only* in tracking sleep. Not sure if it's true after Garmin elevate 4 sensors and great round of software updates. Last had a Fitbit sense that was claiming my heart rate is 92bpm when I was literally dying. That's when I decided to buy my Venu 2. The Fitbit sense was worse in every sense (pun intended). And that's the best they got!

  • Agreed - I should have been clear on that. Even if my Charge 3 experience was better then your Sense one...

  • I'm having a problem with bluetooth connection in Connect app on iPhone.

I've tried to forget it in bluetooth setting, then pair it again with the code. No problem there.

But inside the Connect app it's still undetectable.

Still waiting for 8.11 stable update.

Edit: It works now, after 3rd hard reset of the watch.

  • Did you get the 8.11? Do I need to do anything special to upgrade to 8.11 from the beta? Haven't gotten the 8.11 yet.
