BETA - Venu 2/2s SW 8.05 is available

Download - Venu 2

Download - Venu 2s

Notes:

  • If you see any issues send an email to [email protected] Please indicate the following: Your Venu variant (Venu 2 or Venu 2S) Software version GCM version Android or iOS
  • Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

Changes made from version 5.38 to 8.05:

  • Removed WEP Wi-Fi network support
  • Added press and hold on watch face complications to open detailed view
  • Added Connect IQ System 5 support
  • Improved display backlight performance
  • Sleep, watch face, and workout improvements
  • Stability and UI improvements
  • After the update, the watch continues to incorrectly guess the sleep start time.  I went the bed at 11:30pm last evening and the watch indicates 9:00pm. (Not even close) I was up late watching tv (sitting on the couch) which I occasionally do from time to time and the watch thought I was sleeping. This has happened on numerous occasions and it’s very frustrating.  Even my Oura ring gets this right. Please fix this. Thank you.

  • "Added press and hold on watch face complications to open detailed view"

I'm assuming this only applies to Garmin watch faces? Can third part developers take advantage of this?

  • Anyone knows if Venu 2 Plus indeed has a faster chip or any other advantage? I love my Venu 2 and I am a crazy fitness addict. I wouldn't mind updating and spending extra if it is justifiable. I am worried about extra speaker grid etc and how that impacts water resistance etc. I am referring to couple of mentions in this thread that Epix  has potentially faster chip and Venu 2 Plus may also have the same. It is a suspect that venu 2 Plus got new interface before others

  • There's nothing specific about it in the notes, and it could be just my impression, but the battery looks a bit better too.

I'm using AOD, took the watch yesterday at 12.00pm with 98% battery, 2 hours and half of GPS(watch was covered so i guess that the display didn't consume too much), 1 hour and a half of HIIT training and i'm at 60% currently(23 hours total). Plus the watch is estimating the remaining battery to last 2days and when it's fully charged it's 3 days(i think it was always 2days, for me, when fully charged).

(no spo2 measurement and i'm not someone that looks too much at the watch so 95% of the time that i'm not doing activities the watch is in standby AOD)

Will monitor it in the next days too Slight smile

  • I think that they have the same CPU. And what new interface are you talking about?!

The Epix 2 has a more neutral, not so colorful interface. More black and white in many menus. More for "real athletes" and less for fun and lifestyle. Less vibrant. And the Epix 2 is definitely much faster and much more fluent then the Venu 2s. I guess that is what he means.

It bothered me all the time how the Venu 2 stutters when scrolling almost everywhere. With Epix 2 you could fast scroll through almost all widgets without any slowdown. But I guess they have a new chip inside. Definitely not the same.

This update here is really good, the fade in issue was so annoying. And the touch data on watchface to go to widget is really cool. But the stuttering is still there when scrolling.

  • Installed yesterday: so far, so good....

  • Long Press is only working on the Garmin watch faces for me -- not working on my 3P faces. I'm not sure if it's something developers will be able to add -- but I sure hope it is, because it's a great feature!

I have massive connection issues I never had before with any Garmin:

I reseted the watch after the update, always do this after a bigger update. ATM I have 3 watches (Fenix 6s Pro and Venu 2s and newly Epix 2). Now I wanted to add Venu 2s after the reset. I deleted the device before from app and BT settings on iOS.

Every time I start the app the watch wants to connect with a code already, before even adding it in settings or using the watch settings to connect to the phone. OK, then it connects no problem with the code typed in. But after that the watch disconnects from the app after half the installation process and the watch jumps right to the watchface without it being synced completely. I reseted the watch, still happening. I also deleted the app itself. No difference. I really tried everything. Tomorrow last chance trying to reinstall the firmware...

The watch is unusable to me now. I can't connect it to the app anymore after a reset.

  • Is it now possible to pause activities or is this function still blocked by Garmin?
So really "pause" and not just stop - which inevitably leads to termination of the activity after a few minutes.
