Walk/hike

Anyone know difference btw walking and hiking as an activity on the watch? A pro for choosing ‘walking’ might be ‘auto pause’. Any other reasons to choose one or the other? And is it possible to see all the walks/hikes of a whole week together on a map?

  • I've wondered this too, and the only difference I can think of is that it tags the activity differently when it's uploaded to the Connect web site so that you can differentiate between a casual walk and a hike into the woods or whatever. Data-wise there's nothing different. And in fact, what's the difference between a walk and a run other than speed? :-)

  • There is not much difference between the two that I can see.  And no, as far as I know there is not a way to see all the walks/hikes of a week together on a map.

  • With the 'walking' activity, you have vo2max data. While hiking, this data is not available.
