Body battery discrepancies between Venu 2S & Venu SQ

I have Physio true-up turned on so both watches get the same information and sync to the app except the body battery don’t sync together (which is a known issue).  What I find interesting though and disheartening is my body battery and sleep scores are consistently low on the 2S yet my body battery with the same exact data will be 50 points higher.  For instance this morning the 2S shows my body battery at 22 and my SQ shows it as 70!  That’s a huge difference.  I “feel” like the 70 is more accurate based on my sleep.

Sleep score.  It shows poor basically every day even though it shows my duration @ 8.5 hours, deep at 1h 44 min, REM @ 2hr 50m, light @almost 4 hr and awake @47 min.  It gives me a 40 for a sleep score for that.  It shows my duration, deep and light as excellent, my REM and awake as fair and my stress as poor because it was low instead of at rest.  So I guess I don’t understand how it’s scoring so low?

Does anyone have any insights into this?

  • Hello !  Can you please post some photos and screenshots?  Please first sync both watches with your GC mobile app, then I'd like to see:

    1. Photo of the Body Battery showing on each watch with the watches side by side in the photo.  Please disclose the time and date of the photo so that we can match that up with the sync logs on your account.
    2. Do we have your permission to access/view your Garmin Connect account?
    3. Do we have your permission to email you?
    4. Lastly, we will need a screenshot of your Body Battery graph in the Garmin Connect mobile app.  This should be taken immediately after taking the photo for #1.

  • Hi Kevin,

Want to double check. I use the Physio true-up so haven’t been wearing the watches at the same time, I am mostly wearing the 2S.  They both get the same information though when synced and I am assuming the body battery comes from that information that is synced from the 2S? Do you want me to attach the photos today or wear them both for 24 hours before posting? Thanks

Also, I don’t see a way to insert a photo from my iPad, just a link requesting a URL.

  • Ok, so try this:

    1. Wear your 2s normally.  View the BB ion the watch's widget.
    2. Sync the 2s with your mobile device.  The mobile app and the s2 should now show the same BB.
    3. View the BB on the Sq by accessing the Sq's BB widget.  I'd guess that this will be a different BB measurement (for now).
    4. Sync the Sq with the mobile app.  This "should" sync the new BB measurement in the mobile app (that came from the 2s in step 2) to your Sq.
    5. View the BB widget on the Sq.  I would think that it will now be displaying the same BB measurement as the s2 and the mobile app.

***Please take some photos during this process in case you need to post.

As far as adding the screenshots, do you see the "Upload" option, like you would on the web view?  Mine is "grayed out" like it will not work, but when I click it, it DOES allow me to choose a file.

  • Ah ok, yes the grayed out upload works. just to cover all bases I wore them both for the last 24 hours.  I synced them both then took the photo of the two watches side by side.  Just to see if it made a difference I made the SQ the primary watch for the last day but it doesn’t seem to matter

This first photo was taken at 9:03 just after I synced, you can see they show vastly different stress levels right after syncing which didn’t effect it.  Ever since I got the 2S my sleep scores and body battery has been awful, it mostly shows I have low stress at night instead of sleep stress like the SQ.  I love the 2S but I think the sleep and body battery readings are off.

Here is a photo of the first part of the night:

  • And this is interesting.  I switched the primary back to the 2S and connect now reflects the 2S body battery but appears to be showing the stress readings of the SQ.

  • Because (each of) the watch(es) can take 5-7 days to learn/re-learn your body (see the "My Body Battery Appears to Be Stuck at 5%" section of Body Battery Frequently Asked Questions), there is bound to be some discrepancy when switching your primary tracker often.  I'd like to see what happens when you follow the steps in my last comment after wearing the Venu 2s as the primary tracker for a week.  During this time, there is no need to wear the Venu Sq.  Then, when you follow the steps in my last post, please post the results.

  • Oh, I’ve had my SQ for over a year and my 2S for a couple weeks now.  I had the 2S as the preferred tracker the whole time (only temporarily changed it yesterday) and this has been going on all that time and has never changed.  Here are the pics from yesterday when the 2S had been on and my preferred tracker for the last two weeks.  And yes I had synced them both.

  • Hey, my mistake on this.  Body Battery is actually NOT synced with Physio TrueUp.  See the FAQ below:

    What is Physio TrueUp?

As far as the different readings goes, Body Battery, Stress, and Respiration are all values that use heart rate data for calculation.  Because the watches are worn on different parts of your wrist/arm, there is going to be a different amount of tissue in your wrist/arm that lies in between the optical sensor on the watch and the blood vessel where the light measures your pulse.  See "The Heart Rate Sensor on My Garmin Watch Is Not Accurate" for details on how the optical HR is measured.  This difference in heart rate, over time, when paired with the previous heart rate data stored on the watch from previous use can lead to different values on each watch for each of these measurements (Body Battery, Stress, and Respiration).

  • ok, I see.  It still seems like the new 2S is routinely low on both body battery and sleep score and shows my stress "low" when I sleep instead of stress as "sleep".  The SQ seems to do this more accurately.
