Express or phone connection first

I'm picking up my Venu 2 at REI today and am wondering if it's OK to connect it to my PC first to register and update the firmware with Garmin Express before I pair it with my phone. I think I've usually done it that way in the past with other Garmin devices since it's also a way to charge it up while it's connected.

Yes, it's perfectly ok.

It's fine either way. With a new device, you'll probably have a FW update coming, and with GE it's must faster to get than with BT and your phone.

You can also connect it to your phone, then use WiFi from the watch to update it. I never use Garmin Express, I get all the updates directly to the watch or through the phone.
