Tracker with large font size?

Hi,

I'm about to return a pair of Venu 2 watches due to the small fonts on key information such as steps, heart rate, and date.  I know there's currently no way to change the font size and I have added my name to the Feature Request.

I dug through the massive list of faces on Connect IQ, but the only enlarged type I see is the timer/clock.

Does anyone have a suggestion for fitness trackers for people over 50?  I'm looking to replace out FitBit Charge 3 trackers since I can't read the display without  reading glasses or a magnifying glass.

Or (since I know the answer will most likely be "No"), has anyone played with the SDK to see if items like steps can be made larger on a custom face?fontfont

  • I have a few things like watch faces that show a larger time, etc.  Here's one, but the date is smaller:

There are a whole bunch of options for CIQ watch faces.

  • Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply!  That face certainly has much larger numbers for steps and heart rate.  I guess I'll dust off my brain, download the SDK, and see what's available.

  • I have the larger Venu 2 and the fonts are comparable in size to my former Samsung watch with the font set to "large". Still a bit smaller than I would like but tolerable. I have found that Jim and many other developers are very open to suggestions on changes to their faces so If you find one you like and want it tweaked you should contact the developer.

  • There are native fonts (that's what I use in the above. and custom fonts where toy can set the size.  Here's another of mine that uses custom for the time:
You're really only limited by the space on the screen for what and how many things you display:

Here's another of mine using only custom fonts, but also using arcs to make things easier to see.  The blue on is steps vs goal. the right one, battery level, the left on can be either floors or active mins vs goal.

  • I originally asked for this over 2 years ago in another long thread which was supported by tons of people for the original Venu. I now have the larger Venu 2 which does have larger fonts. However, still not large enough. At this point I give up on Garmin every listening to this request. As a coder, implementing this would not be very difficult.

  • I have installed the SDK and took a while to watch some tutorial videos on YouTube.  I'm a reluctant and very rusty programmer so I imagine it would take me a day or two of futzing.  Not sure I want to make that investment yet.

  • Actually the fonts as they currently are are not only used in native apps, but also many CIQ apps.  If these change sizes, it could impart hundreds of different apps.  Implementing this could be a night mare, actually, and break many things.
