How many days of battery life do you typically get?

My previous Garmin watch (VA3M) would get 5 days with 3 hours of GPS workouts. Could I get something similar with Venu 2?

On a side note has Garmin improved the speed of raise to wake with updates? When I tried Venu 2 at a store, it was much slower compared to other smartwatches.

  • After a week using the venu 2s, I can say that when using the always on display, the battery is quite bad. I can get around 2 days + 15% of battery life (which would offer around 2 hours more), with no music or GPS activities recorded at all and brightness on the lowest settings possible (still too bright for me).

Yesterday I started testing having the AOD off and using the gestures, so far my estimates is that it should be lasting for around 8 days with the same settings and no GPS/music. The bigger venu2 should be a bit better (without AOD) due to the bigger battery size, but I would say a maximum of 1 day more of battery than the venu 2s. With AOD on, the bigger watch should be about the same (or maybe worse?) due to bigger screen size.

In summary, I think you can get 5 days (or even a bit more?) with 3 hours of GPS per day, but only if you don't use AOD.

Not sure what you consider a slow gesture to awake, but for me it currently doesn't look bad. It's not instant, but also not slow. I would say about a second of delay?

  • I do about two or three activities for a week (so roughly 3h with GPS) and I get about a weeks worth of battery life. I don't have always on display active. I also have pulse OX running at night while I sleep. I am quite happy with this sort of performance considering my old VA3M would do about the same or less.

I am using an ancient firmware so there is a small possibility of getting better battery life when udpates are pushed in the future.

I am using the big Venu 2 as well.

I can't say I find the watch slow at all. But I have zero experience with other watches. I really wanted a Garmin because I enjoy the ecosystem (the app, the stats, etc).

As for speed of waking up when raising my wrist, I have gotten used to it. It needs a bit of work, sometimes it wakes up when it shouldn't. Other times it doesn't wake up and I need to double tap. I can't say these are dealbreakers and I imagine they have improved things in the newer updates.
