Heart rate sensors update please

The heart rate sensors are too inaccurate.

The readings are inaccurate.

During sports activities running on treadmill, running outdoors, the heart sensors are at a minimum + 20 bpm offset. It is far too imprecise.

Even in continuous reading in everyday life the heart rate sensors show false results of +20 ~ +30 bpm.

I am extremely disappointed with the inaccuracy of the heart sensor.

However I have the last update, I made a hard reset that does not change anything. We need an update as soon as possible.

  • i haven't tested this in the last fw but a while ago i made a 100km cycle ride and tracked with the Venu2 and Edge 830 (with heart strap) and at the end the heart reading were spot on when compared, so not sure if something changed in this recent fw regarding the heart reading.

Check how the sensor lands in your wrist and maybe try in the other wrist and see if you get the same inaccurate results, although you do not say with what are you comparing to raise that inaccuracy you see.

  • My results are compare to my Garmin forerunner 245 and Samsung Galaxy watch 4 with Polar Verity Sense.

Even when changing the handle always the cited inaccuracies.

I am not the only one on the forum having the same problems.

    Thanks for your feedback.

  • I went today for a bike ride and tracked with both my Edge830 with HR strap and also with the Venu2 running now 5.33fw and am pleased with the results, though these are the ones o can compare with>

    Venu2:
    57,92km
    27,8km/h

    Build in Sensor
    140 bpn AvgHR
    167 bpm MaxHR

    Edge830:
    58,30km
    28,1km/h

    Garmin HRM-Dual HR strap
    139 bpm AvgHR
    166 bpm MaxHR

Hope you have sorted the issue you observed in yours

  • Hi thank you for your feedback.

The latest firmware 5.33 greatly improves the accuracy of the heart sensor.

I can't wait to get the update. Here we find the real Venu 2 which is renowned for the precision of its heart sensor.

  • Where did you see that the new update improves the heart rate sensor? There's no mention to it. And you're comparing the venu 2 to the forerunner 245, so have you thought of the possibility that the forerunner is the one with the inaccurate HR, not the venu2?

Have a look at this great HR review of the venu2: https://youtu.be/QKXtDb3Pt1k (he also has another video with a review of the Galaxy watch 4)

  • Venu 2 is not a bad device in terms of HR accuracy but still not good as an Apple Watch. A smart watch which beats all of the expensive rivals with sports watch tag !

  • completely agree, Apple's are the best for HR sensors. But the worst for battery life Stuck out tongue

I've never tried turning off the smart HR log on the Venu2, which would make the watch record HR every second all the time, as I don't think it's worth losing battery life for that. I'm happy with what I get currently, but if you're not, maybe try that setting to see if it improves the accuracy.

  • With the latest firmware 5.33 there is update of the cardiac sensor.

We go from the sensor version 12 to 14.05 and for the WHR 4.00.03 to 5.00.04 therefore improvements.

The Garmin forerunner 245 and the Polar Verity Sense strap have the same results, so yes the results of the Venu 2 are imprecise.

Regarding your links for the video with which version of firmware the test was carried out.

  • My watch has just updated to version 5.33, but the sensor version is still 12.00
