Notes field for custom run on the Venu 2

Hi all.  I need some help.

I've had my Vivoactive 3 for years now and I have a ton of custom runs programed.  I recently upgraded to the Venu 2 and the display is (quite obviously) different.

Here's my issue.  On the VA3, when a new run segment would come up, it would display the "notes" that I entered when I created the run.  For instance, if I have a sprint segment then a slow jog segment, I would put that in the "Notes" field when adding that running segment.  On the VA3 it pops up on the main screen when that segment is active.

On the Venu 2, however, it does not.  So, if I come to my run segment that says "Sprint" in the notes field, it will tell me to run and for the duration/distance, but I have to scroll to the next screen to see the note that I entered (e.g., "sprint").

That is super annoying and not useful.  I don't want to have to scroll through a screen when trying to run to get it to display this note.  The implementation on the VA3 was much better.  It was on that main screen giving me all the info I needed for that segment.

I don't believe this is a data field setting.  I tried to edit the data fields for the run activity, but there is 1) no option for notes; and 2) these are the same data fields displayed when you are simply conducting a regular - non-programed activity.

Please help.  This may be a deal breaker.

  • The data screen setup on the Venu 2 is a bit different than some of our other watches.  I can confirm that the custom data screen that accompanies (and is the default data screen for) custom workouts can not be edited/customized.

Additionally, I can also confirm that any notes that are inputted when creating a custom workout are, by design, can be viewed by scrolling down once from the main workout data screen.  For any details you want to see on the main workout data screen, as a substitute for the notes you are entering, I recommend entering an intensity target for each step of the workout.  This way, when you progress through the different steps of the workout, you will see that step's intensity target and that step's duration.

  • Thanks for the response. I appreciate the details.

That said, it's a dumb design. "Buy a new watch at a cost of 400 bucks and make it less user friendly" is a heck of a bold sales pitch.

Why not allow the notes as one of the data fields? Or, why not give the user the option to have the notes on the screen? It is, after all supposed to be the best screen on a garmin!

Seriously, though, your suggestion is an okay workaround for new workouts, but forgets the fact that I have dozens of workouts already programmed...

Thanks though. Looks like it's being returned.
