Sleep tracking

Since switching to the Venu2 I find the sleep tracking very poor

For instance on Saturday my watch seemed to think I fell asleep at 6pm even though I was wide awake, I admit I wasn't moving about much but surely it should be better than this

Any tips?

I have my sleep schedule set for 1130pm - 0730am

  • I was hoping that Venu 2 using it's FirstBeat algo for sleep analysis would perform better than other devices. You've told that switch to Venu 2 from the other device, I wonder what were you using before?

Regarding tips, myself I'm Vivoactive 4 user and just considering to buy V2 for my wife, and I find issues with sleep tracking too. They seems to improve a bit lately but still far from what i had with other devices.

Anyway, what I'm doing is using Tranquility Breathwork exercise once I found myself in bed, sometimes I fell asleep even before finishing it, so at least for me it works very well for relaxing and falling asleep and generally I find that my watch detect fall asleep time way more accurately than on nights when I'm not doing breathworks. And even if Garmin servers re-cacluclate my sleep data and change it during the day I can accurately setup my fall asleep hour by watching when I started the activity.

It's still strange that watch thought you were asleep 5 hours before your scheduled sleep time, Garmin support person has told me that there is 2 hour window before scheduled sleep time when watch start to monitor if you're asleep or not.
