FEATURE REQUEST - Swipe to Right for....

Hi all,

I find it odd, that on the VENU 2 it is not possible to swipe to the right from the watchface!

The user can swipe up and down to scroll through the "Glances" of the device.

The user can swipe to the left to access one shrotcut

But why not to the right?

Wouldn't it be much more intuitive and logical to have the ability to swipe right as well?

Could be used perfectly to e.g. access Controls Menu (instead of the not so smooth feeling "A Button long press") or at least a 2nd "Shortcut" (only one shortcut is just not enough...)

TL;DR: GARMIN - Please integrate "swipe to the right" gesture/function from the watchface.

Thanks!

  • I thought it was odd at first as well, but I realized during an activity once that swiping right gets you to your activity. Next time you start one, swipe left. You'll notice that you have come back to the main watch face. From there, you can now swipe in any direction and get to something. Swiping right is reserved for returning to your activity data fields.

  • Thanks for pointing that out, I missed that!

Probably because I use the A Button to return to a running activity, at least from the watchscreen. This also feels more consistent to me, as this is the button you open the activities and start the tracking of an activity...

If I could choose, I would use the A BUTTON to return to a running activity from anywhere in the menu and use the SWIPE RIGHT gesture for something else (e.g. to have an additional shortcut or open the controls menu).

    What about you?

  • It could be nice for having music controls or something. Or make it so that your normal “swipe right” shortcut is one further swipe right beyond your workout.

  • Swiping to the right from the watch face (left to right) is for the shortcut. Swiping left (right to left) from the watch face takes you to your activity. If you have no activity going, swiping left does nothing.

I may be repeating the answers here but it seems your directions are confused.

  • thanks scott, you are correct about the directions!

but either way, that swiping left does nothing without an activity is a "wasted opportunity".

furthermore sticking to one way (e.g. A button) to interact with the activity functions would benefit the consistency of the UI

  • I have a problem during swimming, the swipe right option to view the watch face and glances does not work. I want to check the timer during this activity.
In other activities I can use this swipe to the right to return to the main clock screen.
    Do you have any ideas?

  • Yeah, I'm puzzled as well why it's not utilized for the second shortcut, it would be way better if the watch let us customize how to use it.
