Raise to wake request

On my Venu 2 I just got yesterday the raise to wake is working perfectly except for one issue. Turning off the screen after waking is my issue.  I wear the watch on my left wrist and usually you can put your arm down so that the right side of the watch is down (that works to turn off the screen), you can rotate your arm opposite of the wake direction so that the top of the watch is down (that also works). BUT if I lift my arm so that the watch is facing the left side down it does NOT turn off the screen. My Apple watch I am coming from would turn off the screen as long as its not in the down position as if I am looking at it.

How can we get this fixed? Its weird it turns off for 2 of the 3 sides of the watch it should turn off for. This is my only gripe with the watch.

  • Just got mine today and I'm not having your issue at all, display turns off immediately after I make any slight movement after reading.

    I'd say check these things...

    1. Make sure the gesture sensitivity is set to High. On the watch go to... Settings, System, Display, During Activity/Not During Activity, Sensitivity

    2. Make sure the watch is set to Left wrist. On the watch go to... Settings, User Profile, Wrist

Let me know if that fixed it!

  • I think maybe you misunderstood my description. My screen turns off amazingly well, actually even faster then my series 6 apple watch. The problem is it only turns off if you twist your arm forward or put your arm down. If you raise your arm up it doesn't turn off. Its also not an issue with my device either because I tested it with the watch set to both left hand and right hand modes and it does the same thing on both sides even though raising your arm puts a different side of the watch down depending on the arm the watch is on. Its definitely in their programming. I've just gotten use to it and just set my screen timeout back to the factory settings so it doesn't stay on as long since i cant control it myself.

  • So you're putting your arm up and palm forward/down immediately after reading the watch? That's not a common movement for me personally. But I see mine doesn't turn off either. I'm not sure what you're raising your arm that way for, but I guess if you supinate you arm (turn your wrist so your thumb faces up) before raising it, it should turn off.

Turning down your screen timeout might be the only solution.

I'm guessing they have it set like this so if you're working on something with your hands at eye level, you can activate the screen with a slight wrist movement to see the time. Though you'd think they could program it to turn off if it didn't originally activate in this position.

  • I work at a desk with my elbows on the desk so if I glance down at my watch and then lift my arm back up with my elbows still on the desk the screen stays on. This movement is really only happening at a desk job or if maybe you wanted to look at your watch and then put your arm up towards your face it will also stay on which is kinda annoying.
