Respirations on the Venu 2? Do they work?

I've had my Venu 2 for a week now, and it is an awesome piece of equipment.

Im starting to wonder about the accuracy of some of the sensors though.

At the moment, Im questioning the "respirations" sensors/algorithm. It is clearly very off when I have tried to use it.

Normally it says about 14-15. I went on a short activity today - enough to get my heart rate way up, and it was difficult to catch my breath when I stopped. I counted my respirations, and I was breathing heavily about 30-40 per minute. But the watch respirations per minute count *dropped*  from 15 to 12.

So after I caught my breath, I started to see if I could actually influence that value... and it was not good.

First off I held my breath for 60 seconds - and the respirations count *rose* to 13. Then I tried various speeds of breathing. I tried tightening the band. I tried undoing the band, and resting the watch lightly on my wrist with no pressure. I tried moving it up and down my wrist. I tried the inside of my wrist. I tried the other wrist.. I tried dangling my arm. I tried holding my arm at heart level. I tried rebooting the watch. I tried wiping off the sensors. I tried cleaning my wrists. Nothing I did had any logical effect on the respiration value the watch would report, which wandered from 11 to 16 to "too active to measure" (when I was breathing very slowly)

So... I want to know - is this a common issue? Do I have a broken watch? Is this something that may be improved? Are there limitations to when and how respirations are measured? Is my wrist too fat? (I am a big guy - i need to use the included band at the last hole).  Is there some sort of recalibration I need to do?

This is one of the reasons I got a Venu 2 over a Vivoactive 4 (other than the screen) - double the sensors on the bottom.

I would like to hear other experiences.
