Raise to wake speed

Can anybody that moved from the original Venu confirm if the raise to wake speed has been improved? Thanks

I assume you mean wakeup by gesture?

i am using a standard Garmin watchface and would say it’s slightly slower than Venu 1

  • Very annoying is the fact that the way even the normal Garmin watchfaces show up is slow too. Totally unnecessary. Like an animation which starts to slowly brighten up. Very annoying.

When I turn my wrist I don't want the display and time to brighten up slowly like an animation. I want it to just be there to show me time.

I don't think the gestures is slow by itself, it is the animation that makes it seem forever till time really is brighten up.

  • This is disappointing given the new gpu. There should also be an option to turn off animations.

  • Totally. They need to change that. No animation on gestures when turning wrist.

UI is also very slow, stutters when scrolling almost everywhere. Like a Beta, but I hope they will fix both of that soon. A Beta FW is already out, but not fixing those issues unfortunately.

  • It seems that I will have to wait before I order one then, thanks!

  • There is an option to choose “live” or “still” backgrounds already... And I don’t think the time slowly un-dims. I’m using one of the default faces and it switches directly from dim to bright. So I don’t think I understand that complaint.

It would be good if the watch responded significantly faster though. Right now it seems like it’s close to a full second.

  • Not here sorry. standard digital watch face with still black background and it definitely needs 1-2 seconds to glow bright. Still picturehere of course. I am not talking about animation in the picture but an animation to show up. It is not wrist turn, here, it blends in which is animated. Sorry but if everyone should see the slow wrist gesture action, the animation. Normally it should take a millisecond to react but this, no. It just blends in slowly. I mean 1-2 seconds to completely show up is too slow for a watch. And Garmin should understand that no one needs the wrist gesture itself to be animated. It should be there in much less than a second which it isn't. And I don't believe it is just my watch, sorry. Same problem with the original Venu.

They should at least give us an option, like on the Apple Watch, to turn off all animation throughout the system. They could do it in settings. System would be so much faster. I never use any animation on phones and watches, if possible. Difference is night and day. I don't understand people who love animation. Everything takes much longer and it costs more battery/energy. Please Garmin, give us an option to turn off animations on watch, or do it yourself. Most importantly on gestures movement.

the responsiveness of the screen switching on is perfect, even with the sensitivity set to the lowest level.

I fully support what  is describing.
it is: a) not as fast as I do expect b) it’s not off - on but fading in

nevertheless it’s interesting why different people observe different effects

i am on a Garmin watchface with digital time and 4 data being displayed on screen (heart rate, stress, steps and body battery)

I am with the Garmin face by default, the time in numbers of several colors, and the date + the word "Garmin" above

frankly, with the sensitivity set to the maximum, the screen turns on immediately at the quarter of the wrist, with the progressive effect which gives a rather nice genre.
Then I understand that this effect can disturb, but I think it's part of the design!
