Watch Band Lugs

Hello,

If anyone from Garmin reads this, please offer some of your 22mm lugs to your Venu 2 customers at a discount (free is OK too). The Venu 2 requires lugs that are longer than standard 22mm lugs and makes it impossible to use most third-party watch bands.

If this is a production mistake, please make it right. If this is intentional, it's reason to stop buying Garmin watches. You've put us in a position where our only selection of bands is a few over-priced choices direct from Garmin. I can no longer select from the hundreds of less expensive bands available to me. This was not an issue with the original Venu so I assume it's a quality assurance problem, and not planned that way.

Thanks for reading this

  • I agree that something needs sorting regarding this. I have bought and returned 12 different watch straps from Amazon since I received my Venu 2 because non of them stay on the watch. If I flex my wrist, lean on a hard surface, basically anything other than keeping my hand etc straight the strap comes off. They obviously want to sell more of their £28 straps.

I noticed this issue as well and had to end up buying 3rd party spring bars that were just a hair longer in order to use straps off of Amazon.  It's disappointing that the watch was built this way and either it's by design or accident.  Either way it doesn't sit right.

  • Which lugs are you buying? I'd like to get some but how do you know they're longer before you buy them? I already bought some and they don't help.

It's been trial and error.  The attached photo are of spring bars that I found to be a hair longer and give a more secure fit.  I've also found that the quick release type of pins that come with many bands are typically on the shorter end so I've removed those and replaced them with these. You have to be careful though when using these with metal bands or bands with hard plastic connectors to ensure that you can still use the spring bar tool to remove the band.  All of this though shouldn't be needed if the watch would just have "proper" tolerances for the lugs. I've not seen Garmin chime in on this concern anywhere. I've also not experienced this with any of the other Garmins I've owned (Fenix, FR, Venu). Based on the software bugs and then this concern,  I'm leaning toward returning the Venu 2.

  • Thanks for the information. I also put non-quick release lugs in a band to make it work.

    Happy to help!

  • This is a problem with my original Venu, too.  The distance between the lugs is about 20.5mm, so almost every third party 20mm watch band is too small and will fall out if you snag your watch on something or even just bump it the right way.  My VA4S was the same way with third party 18mm bands.  It's a Garmin thing.

Which size watch do you have. I bought a 22MM band in Amazon from Archer and it works perfectly.

I got so tired of trying to adjust to the Venu 2 so I returned it and got a Fenix 6. It's a whole different beast but so far no complaints.

  • Yes I’ve got Archer ones too now. They seem to be the only ones that will stay on the watch.
