BUGS + REALISTIC feature list, Garmin please fix this.

Hi, maybe we should do a list for Garmin on what to fix and make better, and maybe some realistic features. No training effect stuff etc because we all know that will unfortunately NEVER happen, at least on the Venu 2. But maybe stuff like multiple timers or save activity for later. "Small", non Firstbeat, stuff....

Bugs

1. OS stutters all the way when scrolling through menus like widgets and activities and settings. Not fluent at all, please fix this. scrolling should be fluent. Activity is even more annoying when you have longer activity list. This screams "beta" , stutter and lag everywhere

2. fonts on Venu 2s is often way too small, many text can almost not be read because it is so small. Give us at least an option to make text bigger, or do it in the system without an option. Reading on the ugly Vivoactive 4s screen is way easier than on the nice 2S because of way bigger fonts. It is, in fact, still a fitness tracker, you should be able to read text without a problem

3. sleep is still not as good as on older Fenix 6 versions, less awake time, higher score, higher Body Battery, at least after 1-2 weeks of owning the watch

4. touchscreen sometimes reacts very very slow or not at all, there are issues with touch input

5. Fix the stress widget data not showing minutes at all, and showing hours as minutes (like 5h41m shows as 5m on the widget)

realistic features request

1. please finally give us "save activity for later", there is a new hike function. This is not plausible to put hike activity on the watch but not "save for later"

2. please let us save timers like on many other Garmin watches as Fenix line and FR line, esp with the annoying way to put time on the watch via touchscreen, it is even more necessary here than on other Garmin watches

3. please give us an option for the always on watch face to make it even less bright, darker than the lowest brightness setting. Apple Watch does that well. Just a low power always on mode, to me the always on watch face is very bright for just to show time, lowest brightness setting is way too bright for that. There should be an extra option/setting or at least make it low power when choosing any always on watch face.

4. give us airplane mode setting in control menu, nothing special about that but nice if you want to save even more battery in some situations

5. Why is there still no movement in always on digital time watch faces? This or very low power mode like on Apple Watch would prevent screen burn-in .... Third-Party watch faces do that but not Garmin themselves???

    I like this approach Thumbsup

  • I agree the interface could be a little smoother.

I don't know why there's such strict burn-in protection, I've never seen that restriction mentioned for a Wear OS, Samsung, or Apple watch, nor have I ever seen burn-in mentioned as a problems for them. I want a brighter always-on display. I wear this as a watch as well as a fitness device so I want it to look like a watch all the time (pun intended).

Regarding airplane mode, you can turn off the Bluetooth connection in Settings. I think WiFi only turns on when you check for an update. What else would you turn off with an airplane mode?

If by "save for later" you mean ability to pause an activity indefinitely, that would be nice.

Well, there is not much known cases of burn in, that is right, but there is, there is a thread in the Venu forum. Of course you need to see time, it should be readable which it absolutely is on AW and oh yeah, the always on display doesn't cost that much energy on the AW compared to Garmin because of low power mode. I don't know if it needs special amoled display tech which Garmin maybe  doesn't have but it is a fact that up to 10 days without always on and 2 days with always on is a big, big joke. There is no manufacture who has such a big difference in battery life between AOD on and off. No one. That says it all. And sorry, but in no way is a bright glowing display looking like a watch. it is looking like a tech screen. Like it is now even with low brightness set. Showing time on Venu looks totally techy and not like a normal watch at all. And on AW it is way better integrated. And most of all, you it doesn't use 4-5 times the battery with low power display. And if that tech is not available on Garmin Venu than at least make an option to let the AOD glow even less in AO mode. It already brights up when moving the wrist. I don't know who needs a bright display when not looking at it in that specific moment. Even with gestures setting turned off it gets way brighter when moving the arm. I don't know if that is intended or a bug. But when moving the watch and it getting brighter, why does anyone need a bright alway on display when not even moving the wrist?

Airplane mode f.e. also turns off ANT etc. It cuts off every connection, which is good not only for battery life but privacy and much more. There is a reason why airplane mode is available on other devices. If it wouldn't do anything it wouldn't be on the devices ;-)

  • You may not think much of an always-on display as a watch, but not everyone feels the same. I like them when using a nice, simple face. They are a decent substitute for a watch.

I usually use a simple face like the one pictured.

No, I do need always on mode. I always use it. I just want it to be much dimmer than now cause it uses too much energy and already turns much brighter when moving the wrist, even though gestures is off. So if it already is way brighter when I move my arm and look at it directly why do I need a bright watch face when most of the time not looking at it, which is consuming way more battery than needed. Totally unnecessary. I mean there is a reason why it only lasts two days instead of 10, maybe 8 in normal use. Because it is too bright for always on function. Apple did it right, sorry. You get a bit more battery life with turning Apple Watch AOD off but not 4 -5 times the battery life. One reason I like the really bad MIP displays of Garmin. No backlight, no battery consumption but always on time.

I understand you, there are many beautiful watch faces, esp analog ones, but this pictures doesn't look like a normal watch but a tech watch with display on cause display is way too bright to look "normal".

  • To each their own. We'll agree to disagree. Blush

  • I quite like the Venu2 coming from a Fenix 6. The only thing I find annoying and surprising is there is no Trail run activity,
