Venu 2/2s always-on mode. How is battery life for you?

Hi,

Garmin states 2 days which to me is ridiculous, Venu 1 could do that when I owned one without a problem. So any of you already owning the Venu 2/2s. How does battery life with always on display compare to the first Venu or in general?

Thx.

  • Seems early to ask. I’m guessing people will have started getting their devices only yesterday.

  • Normal at the beginning, nothing can really be answered, no need to not ask the question as new owners will read it hopefully and give answers. :-)

  • Ray Maker (dcrainmaker) says that estimate is conservative.

  • My first day with it was about the same battery life as my original Venu, which is ending a 24 hours period at about 60% battery. My second day, so far, has seen battery life plummet. It's down to 75% barely more than half way through a normal day.

  • So I have tested it now for one charge, but that can't really count as I did a lot of settings on the first day, using it more than normal on day 1.

ATM I am on day 3, 19% left. Did 2x 45 min activities. But no GPS activity yet. So it should give me 3-4 days with AOD (simple digital time, low brightness, not many data shown).

It is ok, if I don't need to see time so fast at all I can turn it off, otherwise 3-4 days is ok. But I hoped for 4-5 days. But maybe when the watch is configured and there are not many background processes anymore like when doing an update, setting it up etc. and when battery will be fully capable after a few weeks, battery will maybe last 4-5 days. Full 4 days with 1 activity each day and simple low brightness AOD would be cool. Much better than Apple Watch.

  • Any news after one months?

  • I use a CIQ face, I have Pulse Ox on at night. I use AOD and the face I use is a full face with colors even in low power mode ( just not as bright). I charge every morning while I shower. I have a daily run/walk GPS event for 30 or 40 minutes before I shower. My battery is at about 70% when I put it on the charger. This is wayyy better than the Samsung Active 2 I used to have. It is actually about the same as my Vivo 4. (But the Vivo has been struggling with battery life after the last few firmware updates.) Plus it charges to 100% by the time I am dressed. (The Samsung took over an hour to charge every day). Net - for me I consider the battery life to be excellent.

  • With simple Garmin AOD and 1h activity a day, each third day 1h GPS,  and much normal daily movement during the day and PulseOX at night on, I get around 2-3 days on my V2s . With PulseOX completely off, because to me it is totally inaccurate, I get around 4 days. So not so much more. AOD is really the battery killer here, not PulseOX anymore.

I switch between having AOD on and off. When I am at work I have it on, when not and no big appointments etc. I have it off and gestures on. But with everything turned on you can say 2-3 days depending on GPS usage too.

Again, I really wish they would put some low power mode into the watch. When AOD on it is low power brightness and not so bright. Really bugs me to lose so much battery and maybe even someday get burn in because AOD is so bright with even lowest brightness setting.

PS: What is really strange is that I get the same battery life, no matter which Garmin AOD watch face I choose. I had a very simple analog one with only 2 bars showing time and also a digital one with only big digital numbers showing but of course much more pixels to lighten up there. Both consume the same battery life. Very strange as one would expect the brighter and the more pixels the more battery life. But not with Garmin watches.

Battery life with AOD on the most annoying thing about the V2 to me atm.
