With the way they treat their current Venu/VA4 customers regarding its pathetic sleep widget and non functional Ox sensor...

... I don't see myself upgrading my watch and I'm coming from VA HR, VA 3 and now Venu... The Venu was my tiping point.

  • 100%.. every time a mod says they will pass an improvement or request along what they are really saying is the improvement may well feature in their next new watch so tough luck.

  • Indeed, I've been burnt twice already and it won't happen a third time. I'm due to switch phone and I'll probably choose a phone based on what watch I'll go with.

You are right, it is not ok to just release new watches and not bring one single thing to an old watch. But it is Garmin standard, everyone knows this for years unfortunately. This is not new. I just bought a VA4s. Love it, even though I used Fenix's and FR before. Still, I will buy the Venu 2s because of new sensors, health data widget, sleep widget etc. Quite a lot of new stuff.

And Garmin nerver said sleep widget would come to the VA/Venu series. Only to Fenix and F945/745/245. Esp 745. And here I would be very annoyed because they even marketed it on the 745 and it still isn't there.

Garmin's old PulseOX is crap on every Garmin device unfortunately, that doesn't make it better. How would they fix it when obviously more LEDs are needed for more accuracy, see Venu 2. Never heard something from them officially they would fix it. I always turned it off.

Garmin does some things wrong but they also do stuff great. They don't charge anything extra for SW/training stuff etc. which some, not a lot, of companies do etc.

Garmin is not perfect but as long as Apple Watch stays with it is crappy battery life they have nothing to worry about regarding their lifestyle line. Which mostly are other customers anyway... The sports line is way beyond most when it comes to the right amount of training data, lifestyle stuff, battery life, device quality etc. Maybe someday Coros will get there. But a company with chinese connection/partners... So they don't have much competition in many of their products. And people who buy an AW or Fitbit don't need a Venu etc. Garmin devices are more for people needing more to workout, more flexibility and more settings, more data etc.

  • Yep, time to stop giving garmin suggestions because all they do is save it for a newer watch. ***

  • Yep, and remove features that people found useful in the previous iteration. For example, why oh why can't you autopause cross-country ski activities in VA4/Venu while that was possible in VA HR and VA3???

actually they told that it's not coming to Venu, and closed the thread which was growing daily with new people posting and adding votes to the request. But yes it's ironic that cheaper 245 would get that update in time when Venu wouldn't... Nice touch, indeed.

so true, I also hope that Chinese corporations would create more competition as well as wearable market become hotter now. And any Huawei watch can live as long, and from my experience their HR and sleep tracking is working way better(and have smart alarm and sleep widgets in even cheapest models for years). So as long as they add more sport features they can potentially become a competitor to Garmin too.

do you think that if you stop giving suggestions they would stop bringing new watches?:)

Huh, I had no idea older watches had that feature.
