We are sorry to hear about the issue you are reporting. The skin irritation may be a result of build-up on the watch band and/or casing. You should discontinue wearing your watch until your skin has healed. Please review the following FAQ that provides important information regarding the wear and care of your Garmin watch: https://www.garmin.com/watch-fit-and-care/.

Thankyou. The damage is definitely deep and l believe its a burn in exactly the position where the sensor sits. I have updated the software again just in case there is a fix for this problem. In the meanwhile l have moved the watch to the right hand to see what happens. It really worries me that that a burn can ok. I'm now looking for how l can make the heart rate monitor only work during activities. Photo 1 is when l noticed the damage and the next photo today.
I would definitely follow up with Garmin Product Support on this. https://support.garmin.com.
