How important is "Wrist Worn On"?

Since I am right-handed, I have chosen "Left" under "Wrist Worn On.“ However, I often wear my Venu 2 Plus on my right wrist, maybe even more often than on my left. I find the right wrist more convenient for paying at NFC terminals, and also find that my wrist can get irritated if I always wear the watch on the same side. Since the newer watches no longer support flipping the watch face, I wonder what the significance of this setting is.

  • I switch mine between wrists too. I haven't noticed a difference when moving it to my other wrist and leaving the setting alone.

  • I've seen previously in older posts that it may be to do with the wrist gestures, such has lighting up the screen when lifting your wrist up. It needs to know which side it's on.

  • My experience does not confirm this. I changed the setting in Garmin Connect to „worn on right wrist“, but my Venu 2 Plus still lights up more reliably when raising the wrist when I am wearing it left.
