Venu 2 Plus swimming pool

hello

I have recently had the pleasure of testing the venu 2 plus

i normally use a huawei watch gt3 pro and the venu 2 in my opinion offers a more user friendly experience and i was thinking to switch from huawei to garmin.

but there is one problem, it is about swimming. i swim a lot in the pool every day. while using the huawei i have NEVER encountered any problems with activity measurements. the watch works perfectly measuring the number of pools and recognizing sections and swimming styles. in the garmin i have not found as extended swimming analysis but it is not a big problem. the worst thing is that the watch is very wrong about the distance swum :( swimming front crowl is still fairly ok but when the style is variable the measurements are meaningless. after swimming 2000m the watch shows 2300m always overestimating. is this just a problem with my device or garmin in general? i need a watch for swimming and such errors are unacceptable to me :(

regards

  • Hi, I swim 3000m a day in a 25 m pool freestyle. I find the length count pretty accurate, occasionally, when I pause for a few seconds to let other swimmers pass me at an end I get a rogue length in the tally but can always detect this because my starting end turn is now an odd number.

My experience with other wearable devices is broadly similar, if you break the beat of turns or change your swimming action this tends to disrupt the record.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers

  • I noticed that when you swim only freestyle it is ok, the problem is bigger when the styles are variable. never had such a problem with huawei

  • Hi! I experienced the same in a 50m pool today. After the first 150 meters, the watch already showed 200m. I finished the tracking and started a new one, after 800m I had already 950m on my watch.

I didn't have this problem before the previous update. But just today someone else had a same problem with another Garmin watch (maybe one of the new forerunners?), so maybe it's a wider Garmin issue.

Or maybe I'm just "Inexperienced in lap swimming" as Garmin suggests to consider in the tips to improve pool swimming accuracy. Maybe I should just have more time to go swimming Sweat smile

  • I bought a Garmin Swim 2 for pool swimming tracking and general fitness monitoring, only to find that it has no lap counting facility.  I am returning it.

  • Have you set the correct pool size within the Pool Swimming activity on your watch?

  • Have you set the correct pool size within the Pool Swimming activity on your watch?

  • Yes and I spoke to customer services who confirmed there is no lap counting facility
