Problem loading golf courses

Hi,

Venu 2+ SW 12.13

I have downloaded a specific golf course on my phone before entering first tee but when starting the golf app that course is not in the list, 3 others nearby are. Desperately trying "everything", restart watch, restart phone, sync, delete the course, download again. Same result, just the same 3 other courses showing up. Delete these 3 courses on the phone only having the one I'm going to play. Same result, these 3 courses continue to show up... Giving up (on hole 3 or 4, almost throw the clock into a water hazard), played without distance help.

What is going on here??

  • Are you downloading the courses to sync from the Garmin Connect mobile application, or are you using the Garmin Golf app?

Since the Venu 2 Plus is not one of of the devices compatible with the Garmin Golf app directly, the courses must be managed through the Download Golf Courses menu with the Garmin Connect app.

Then at the course the direct sync with Garmin Connect on your phone while at the course, and selecting the Golf activity from the watch will pull the courses downloaded from the correct source.

  • Yes, that's what I do, download with Garmin.connect. I do not use the dedicated golf app, vi I have it installed on my phone. Could that be the problem? Since not using it, I will uninstall Garmin golf app.

  • When I had problem I was in Spain, same there nearby courses showing every time. Removed from phone, still showing up. Now in Sweden and have downloaded my nearby courses. Guess wich courses showing up? Correct, the ones in Spain... Joy

  • Make sure that your Garmin Connect account is reflecting Sweden for your account settings. If your account settings are showing the country set to Spain, or another country, get that setting edited to Sweden. Instructions to verify the country set on your account available on the Verify Country of Residence in the Garmin Connect App support page for reference if needed.

Then confirm the that the next golf course you plan on playing is showing in the Download Golf Courses section of the main menu in the Garmin Connect app.

Once you are at the course with the sky directly above you, select the Golf option from the activity menu, and make sure to allow the watch to locate satellites completely without selecting the skip option, and as long as the Garmin Connect app is open on your phone, or is running in the background, the course should appear as available.

If you are still unable to get course you are located at to appear on the watch, I would suggest reaching out to the Garmin Support office in Sweden to get the concern resolved.  Contact info for Garmin Sweden in link below for reference if needed:

  • Thanks for effort and suggestions. Location verified, it's Sweden. Always have been waiting for satellite. And it worked from the beginning, something happened lately, seems like it's stucked on those 3 previously downloaded, now deleted courses. I will reset my watch to factory settings. And after that not running beta. It will probably fix it. If not, or if happen again, I will contact Garmin support Sweden.

  • I have been having the exact problem the last 3 rounds i have played.  Only the same 3 courses show up and I have 10 courses that I have used regularly over the season.  They will not show up anymore. Did you ever find a fix?

  • No, sorry to say, I did not. I ended up doing a factory reset and after that it has worked as expected, no problems what so ever.

  • Thanks for responding.  I actually figured it out and thought I’d post here for future owners who come across this issue.  My watch is not a with me at the moment but In settings on the watch, I believe under connectivity tab, there were a series of on/off toggles.  One toggle had to do with a sync feature and it was turned off.  This was not something I knowingly did as I never explored these menus before but it corrected the issue.  Maybe there is a hot key combination of buttons to toggle this on and off that we pressed.
