Wrong ascent

Hi,

I used my new Garmin Venu 2 Plus watch to hike (snowshoe). I couldn't understand why ascent was showing 780 m while descent about 250 m while I was doing a round trip.

I thought it may have been a wrong gps point but when I look at the data it's actually pretty accurate and so is the altitude graph... The ascent figure doesn't match with the altitude data recorded (would sum, by more than 100% difference. What could it be?

Thank you
