Not connecting to Google Assistant

I brought the Venu 2 Plus a couple of days ago. The voice button originally opened Bixby, so I unabled it and cleared defaults. I set my phone's default voice assistant to Google and it works on my phone fine

When I try and access it on the Venu, it says Connecting to voice assistant for a few seconds, then it goes red and says it can't connect. If my phone is open and unlocked the voice assistant pops up on there. Is there a setting I've not updated correctly?

Hello, 8078260, Have you set Google Voice Assistance to enable on Lock Screen? You may also benefit from setting the Venu 2 Plus as a trusted device. For details please see: Setting Up Voice Assistant on Your Garmin Watch

Thanks Sara, yes I have set it as enabled on the lock screen and as a trusted device. Just tested it with bfs phone and works fine on his. Can't see what settings are different. Phone is a Galaxy Flip3.

I seem to recall some threads about the assistant not connecting, you might try searching for them. I have a Fold3 and the assistant does connect fine for everything but for texting it frequently tells me "something went wrong" instead of reading my texts. I had a case with Garmin who concluded it is a Samsung problem and I agree with that because I have the same issue with 2 different BT headphones an that phone.

Quick update to this. The software updated yesterday to version 10.18 and it's now working

On your phone, set your assistant default to "none." Then, when you select set up assistant on your watch, it will prompt you to select your assistant on your phone. This seems to be the only way for it to recognize Google assistant.
