This is my first garmin and first smart watch. I chose venu 2 plus because of the voice assistant and smart watch features while still having health tracking, sleep and the ability to track swim. I love the look and fit and feel of my watch but it just works TERRIBLY. My problems are below and I just want others to know that this seemingly awesome watch is very glitchy and that support hasn't been able to fix any of it.
1) bluetooth connectivity will show connected, I can receive texts, but voice assist button says 'no phone available'. Support, via chat box, doesn't seem to believe me and says this is also common and normal. They suggest restarting watch and/or phone, but this happens about 20 times day. I am running SW version 7.40. I have read all support guides and nothing helps. This essentially makes it no better than the much cheaper venu 2.
2) Swim metrics are terrible. Just awful. Even with the pool length set to 25 yards, the resulting lap lengths are a random distance that are wildly inaccurate. I have had no success with even getting within 1km of accuracy with the swim metrics. Yes I have read the 'tips to improve accuracy' and no, they have not helped. I used a swim watch in 1999 that was more accurate than this.
3) Do not disturb does not work- I get notifications at 2am during sleep despite having DND during sleep hours turned on. It works only about 50% of the time when I turn on DND manually. Again, chat box support does not believe me.
4) incoming calls- when i tap to answer, it answers on the mic and speaker of my phone. Useless. Any tips here?
5) I do not receive notifications during activity despite this being turned on.
My question- do I just have a bad piece of hardware? Do I exchange it for a new one? Or go to another garmin without the voice assist and calling features? Do any garmin with incoming call work consistently at all? Regarding swim metric, do any garmin watches consistently collect swim metrics?
I watch my kids use their apple watches seamlessly and this is SO frustrating to have an expensive watch that literally does nothing that it is advertised to do.
