venu 2 plus just feels like nothing works...

This is my first garmin and first smart watch.  I chose venu 2 plus because of the voice assistant and smart watch features while  still having health tracking, sleep and  the ability to track swim.  I  love the look and fit and feel of my watch but it just works TERRIBLY.  My problems are below and I just want others  to  know that this seemingly awesome watch is very glitchy  and that  support  hasn't been able to fix any of it.

1) bluetooth  connectivity will show connected, I can receive texts, but voice  assist button says  'no phone available'.  Support, via chat box, doesn't  seem to believe me and says this is also common and normal.  They suggest restarting watch and/or phone, but this happens about  20 times day.  I am running SW version 7.40.  I have read all support guides  and  nothing helps. This essentially makes it  no better  than the much cheaper venu 2.

2) Swim metrics are terrible.  Just awful.  Even with the pool length set to  25 yards, the resulting  lap lengths are  a random distance that are wildly inaccurate.  I have  had no success with even getting within 1km of accuracy with the swim metrics. Yes I have read  the 'tips to improve accuracy' and no, they have not helped.  I used a swim  watch in 1999 that was more accurate than this.

3) Do not disturb does not  work- I get notifications at 2am during  sleep despite having DND during  sleep  hours  turned on.  It works only about 50% of the time when I turn on DND manually. Again, chat box support does not believe me.

4)  incoming calls- when i  tap to answer, it answers on the mic  and speaker of my phone.  Useless. Any tips here?

5) I do not receive notifications during activity despite this being turned on.

My question-  do I  just have a bad piece of hardware? Do  I exchange it for a new one? Or go to another garmin  without the voice assist and calling  features? Do any garmin with incoming call work consistently at all?   Regarding swim metric, do any garmin watches consistently collect swim metrics?

I watch my kids use their apple watches seamlessly and this is SO frustrating to  have an expensive watch that literally does nothing  that it is advertised to do.

  • Hello .  I'm sorry to hear of the trouble that you're having with your Venu 2 Plus.  I just read through your LiveChat session with Zaria.  I see that they have requested some photos/screenshots/video of some of the issues that you're experiencing.  These will be used to give us an idea of what other troubleshooting we may suggest AND will help our Engineering team to attempt to reproduce these issues.  Please continue to work with Zaria by using replying to the email they sent you.

  • I always treat it as a bit of an adventure when owning a Garmin. I’ve had a Venu 2 plus for a week now and my voice assistant doesn’t work either. I plan to leave it another week and discover what other bugs I have and then contact Garmin with the list.

  • I appreciate this but I do not know why you would need a picture of my  watch  saying 'no phone connection' instead of just believing me? You could also see that none of the other concerns were addressed and that our chat was disconnected.  I was really disppointed and wish someone would just tell me if the phone features work consistently on any garmin watch so I can decide whether to exchange vs return and switch to AW.   So many of my concerns  were not addressed in the chat and your  consumers should know that this version has issues.  I did email her the pictures of one of the problems but feel no closer to any of  my  issues being addressed.

  • are you able to  answer calls on your watch?

  • Sometimes I can, sometimes it doesn’t seem to ring on the watch. Possibly Bluetooth connection issues. I have issues where the watch tries to take over the call even if it was initiated on the phone, which is annoying.

  • my watch is the same, screen dims no matter what i do and I nearly need to insert it into my ear to hear it!

  • Yes, it works with my iphone 12 pro. Connection to bluetooth is a PITA to setup!!! But when sorted, works well.
I am finding a few problems some of them better after the watch updated itself:
1- Sound volume during calls was so low it was useless unless i was in bed. Now OK
2- When i pressed the middle button that is set for Siri it complained i was during call. Not occurred since the update
3- Does not recognize powermeter. Don't know if it will in the future, but i really wish it will...
