Prefer to use Google Assistant instead of Bixby

Just got venus 2 plus. I have a samsung s21 5g running android 12, 4.0 U.I. I have google assistant as default on my phone, but whenever I press the assistant button, It always brings up Bixby!

Any I idea how to change that on a samsung phone?

Well, not everybody has the combination Samsung/Venu 2 Plus, but this is from the Garmin help: Venu 2 Plus: How to Set Up Voice Assistant | Garmin Customer Support

Any solution ? I have the same problem and I can't figure out how to switch Bixby to Google

Did this solution not work - the instructions are right there. I am thinking of moving from a 2 to a 2 Plus but would have to have Google Assist vs Bixby. (Bixby will not read texts from any messaging app other than Samsung messages)

Nope. Tried it multiple x before posting. Included hard resetting the watch and triple checking assistant was set as default before pairing.
no change.
Emailed support and was instructed to call support. Will have to do that when I get a change.

Hmm. So those instructions make it look like the watch just uses the default assistant app on your phone. Is your phone set to use bixby when you don't use the watch?

I tried it again and I finally succeeded from the help from Garmin support.

Use Google Assistant But Bixby Opens When Using Venu 2 Plus
If you have switched to using Google Assistant on your Samsung smartphone, and when using the voice assistant
feature on your Venu 2 Plus Bixby opens, you can do the following so that Google Assistant will open instead!:
1. Swipe down from the top and open the Settings app
2. Search for Bixby Apps or Bixby Voice
3. Touch Bixby Apps or Bixby Voice
4. Touch Set as default
5. Touch Clear defaults
The next time you activate the voice assistant feature on Venu 2 Plus, your phone will prompt you to select the
assistant app. Select Google Assistant
