does it matter? The V2 will be treated completely the same like the V2+ in terms of updates. 

In case you were looking for a watch with calling capabilities you would not have looked at the V2 anyway but rather Apple or Samsung.

So actually no big deal IMO

I don't see the issue unless the price difference was $50 or less. They are a same in a lot of ways.

Well I can understand . Apple only works for iphone and Samsung batter life is a deal breaker for many and it also really needs a Samsung phone for best experience. Also Samsung watch can not count stairs unless the distance between the floors is enough.

Do we really know this? That Venu 2 will still get updates? Or is it deprecated now and all developer resources for the newer version? 

Have a look at the Vivoactive 3 or the Venu forum.  They are still getting updates and the Vivoactive 3 was released in September 2017 and the Venu in September 2019.  Both of these have been superseded with newer models.

I guess the update policy will be the same as with the 245 and 245 music: basically the same device, same firmware, just some additional fixes for the music version once in a while.
