Lily software update not working

Hi Folks.

New Lily, and trying to update to the latest software. Using Win10 garmin express. Have not seen the update offered by the Connect app.

Have had several attempts now to update.

- Several times it's simply stopped on the update in Express

- Other attempts it looks like Express has done it's job, and asked for the device to be disconnected. However it seems the device does not take the update, and does not run through the update process. (fairly familiar with garmin updates... have had a fenix 3, vivosport, fenix 6 pro etc etc)

Now, it seems that:

- the GUPDATE.GCD file is getting copied to the root directory of the device

- express thinks 6.20 has been installed

- the device does not try to take the update file.

- device info thinks the software is still on 3.10

  • Hello .  You can delete the GUPDATE.GCD file you see:

    Then, sync again with Garmin Express and remove the watch from the charging cable.  This should prompt the downloaded update to install on the watch.

    The watch does not prompt for update even with the file there. Have tried a few times.

    Also have reset all settings, connected to a different mobile / user account. The app then tries to download the update, but gets to the final step I think, but the watch does not prompt for update. 

    So still stuck  

  • So, after you connected the watch to your computer, deleted the GUPDATE.GCD file, and opened Garmin Express, you were not prompted (by Garmin Express) with a message saying something like 'Updates available' with an "Install Now" button?  If this is correct, I encourage you to reach out to your local Garmin Product Support team for step by step assistance.

    To do this, type "support.garmin.com" in your address bar and use the Garmin Support Center to research your issue.  Once you get far enough in the search, you will see some contact options, which may include Call, Chat, and Email.

  • last time i had problem too with the install of the 6.20, the GE copied the file onto the watch flawlessly, i removed it from the cable (i dismounted it from WIN before) , but nothing happened, it still showed the 5.60. i put it back (and remove from) to the charger cable (which was connected to the PC but the GE was not running and was not connected to mobile neither via BT) perhaps 2-3 times when suddenly the update process was started. so this was really strange, i had no problems prior it...
