Lily pauses randomly while freestyle swimming

One week old Lily. It is true I have not purchased it for swimming as Garmin has more advanced devices dedicated to pool swimmers.

However, I do swim for an hour twice per week and would have expected at least basic features like tracking distance and time.    I noticed that the watch automatically pauses while freestyle swimming after a lap or two, as if the water double taps its screen. I believe it is the screen which is too sensitive. I tested it while breaststroke swimming and did not have any problem - probably because the hand does not go out of the water.

Anybody else had the same issue or any solution on how to go around this?

  • HI there! I am sorry this happens when you swim. I can create a user experience case for you to make my team aware of this!

  • I have exactly the same problem with my lily. The contact with the water while swimming freestyle registers as a double tap and stops the workout recoding immediately I start swimming.

    • After my initial post, I have tried everything - disconnect the phone from the watch,  bluetooth off,  but the same problem persists. It registers as a double tap and suspends the workout after a few strokes.

Now, I cannot make any more “tests” for the foreseable future as the region I am living is entering another lockdown and pools will be closed again.

I reallly hope that Garmin finds a solution to this  as otherwise I am quite happy with my lily.

  • My wife bought her Lily one week ago and she has the same problem, with freestyle and Butterfly the Lily double taps and stops the workout recoding.
