A piece of junk

Thinking of buying one? Don’t. It’s the most unreliable piece of junk going. Some nights it records others it doesn’t. There’s no way of knowing until there’s nothing synced in the morning. I have had to go back to wearing my watch to get reliable results. A complete waste of money.

  • This has not been my experience at all.  For me the ISM is working as it is designed.  Sleep is recorded nightly and syncs with Garmin Connect and my watch in the morning.  Metrics are recorded and properly updated.  Battery lasts eight days on average.  No complaints.

I do have the same issue that others are reporting.  Such as issues with the average skin temperature (see the thread).  I figure that is just teething issues though.

But I would not call it a piece of junk.  Since them most recent firmware update the ISM now populates the Health Status feature too.

  • I can only agree – everything is working very well for me too. I use the ISM 24/7 and only take my Fenix with me for training.

  • I've had a handful of nights where it records my pulse ox and heart rate all night but then has"no sleep detected". It definitely feels like a cobbled together product. Every one of those nights it did the two then three "hey I'm activated!" buzz on my arm (clearly because it recorded my vitals all night)

  • I have not deviated from the steps put forward by Garmin Tracy in her posting.  Sync watch.  Turn off watch BT.  Take watch off, put on ISM.  Sync ISM.  Sleep.  Wake up.  Take off and sync ISM.  Turn ISM inside out.  Turn on BT on watch.  Put watch on.  Sync.

Following the above I have had good success in getting the ISM to register and record sleep.  Sometimes I have to let the ISM sync twice or three times, but that is usually instantaneous.  I do turn off BT on my phone at night, if that matters.  And I do not have BT turned on on my watch at night either.

Hopefully that helps with your lack of recording.
