Manual downloading via USB is pratically impossible

I enable support for downloading data via USB, but the problem is that it is practically impossible/hard to actually downloading the sleep FIT data.

The problem is is that, after syncing with the Connect App, all the files are removed.

Can you please update the code to keep the generated files like with Garmin Edge?

Thanks,

  • Hey @manlio_perillo ,

It turns out this is easier than expected. Just not via the method you seem more familiar with.

You can download any specific day of FIT data from an export tool in your profile here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/accountInformation

If you want more than one day, the data export tool here will do it for you:

    https://www.garmin.com/en-US/account/datamanagement/

This is a first generation of a new product. I'm sure these things will improve with the same level of refinement they've applied to each generation of the watches and other products.

    Hope that helps,

    Darius

  • Syncing using the Connect app removes sleep, hrvstatus and monitor files from all Garmin devices. Activities, courses etc are left on the watch. It has always been that way. Disabling data upload in your Garmin profile assures all your data stays on the device, but you lose syncing and integration with data from other devices.

Cumbersome alternative: turn off Bluetooth on the phone at night, retrieve the files via USB in the morning and then enable Bluetooth again and sync via Connect.

I don't think the ISM is supported by Gadgetbridge, otherwise that might work for you, as GB stores files on your phone, and has an option to keep files on the Garmin device after syncing. That way you could sync with GB first, then with Connect, then get the files from your phone (via USB cable). Caveat: Connect may snatch the files before you initiate a sync with GB.
