Sleep Monitor assuming I'm falling asleep right away

My Index Sleep Monitor seems to assume I'm asleep right when I put it on.  For example, last night I know I fell asleep sometime after 10:18pm.  I put the monitor on at 9:55; it has me at 5 mins of light sleep immediately, followed by deep sleep.  I was lying there (admittedly, quite still) reading a book until 10:18, and then it took me some time to fall asleep after I turned off my light.  I see my heart rate fall on the Timeline around this time: from around 48-49 down to 44 from 10:20 to 10:32pm, which is when I suspect I was actually falling asleep.  I'm on firmware 3.70.  Anyone else seeing this?

  • Hello!

Sleep times and sleep stages are identified by using a combination of heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV) and body movement data. if your Heart Rate was at or near resting, your Stress Scores are in the rest range (0-25, this is a good way to review HRV) and you are relatively still, it is possible that your body metrics led the device to think you were asleep before you actually were.
