Sleep monitor stay connected all day

Has anyone noticed theirs being connected all day?

Im on version 3.60 as of yesterday.

Mine used to show Not Connected a couple minutes after taking it off but it stayed on all day today and it recorded 5 hours worth of heart rate data of 160+ even though it was sitting on my desk.

I figured this out because when I updated my Fenix 8, the sleep monitor showed up on the Connect app on the top right where it shows the watch.

I looked at the heart rate widget on the Connect app and it was reading anywhere between 160-175 bpm.

Im assuming thats what happened today.

I was projected to burn 3,200 calories and then I look at the calories a few hours later and noticed im now projected to burn 6,500 calories.

Ive unpaired the sleep monitor and paired again on Connect and my phone.

Ive restarted both my watch and my phone.

Im just a stats nerd (Garmins fault lol) and I really like accurate data. Im sure my recovery score and all that is going to be completely inaccurate tomorrow.

  • I've had this happen once.

At first I couldn't work out why my active calories had jumped by around 350, but then realised that the sleep index was still connected so put 2 and 2 together. I went and checked the ISM and saw that the HR sensor was still flashing.

When I take it off now I wait for the lights to stop flashing before I place it down. I then check it again a few minutes later to confirm the HR sensor is not flashing. One option is to turn the band I side out so the sensor isn't pressed against the band. I'm assuming it sometimes confuses that as skin/an arm.
